Obituary of Thomas J. Washington, Sr.
Middlesex, NJ – Thomas J. Washington, Sr., 78, passed away on May 2, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Somerset in Somerville. Born in Newark to the late John and Nellie (Duffy) Washington, he has been a resident of the borough for forty-seven years.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Thomas served his country during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired as Vice President of Muenz-Engineered Sales, Co. located in Summit. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex, ran the bingo for many years and was a Past Grand Knight and 4th Degree Member of Council #2544 in Dunellen. Thomas had a passion for golf and belonged t the Scotch Hills Men’s Golf Association.
Predeceased by his siblings; John, Leo, Edward, Joseph, Richard, Patricia McGarry, Maragaret Meier and Eileen Washington, Thomas leaves behind his loving family; wife Carol (Samer) Washington of fifty-three years and their children; Tommy, Caryn and her significant other Brian, Craig and his wife Krystle, Kevin and Megan as well as his two grandchildren; Vance and Nelly.
He is also survived by his siblings; Bernard of Boonton, Eugene and his wife Elizabeth of Iselin, James and his wife Elizabeth of Barnegat, Michael and his wife Mary of Pinehurst, NC, Frank and his wife Diane of Parker, CO, Ellen of Dayton, OH, Mary Matthews of Roselle Park, Elizabeth Lahey of Cranford, Kathy and her husband Ken Blaha of Colonia, Larry and his wife Carol of Red Bank as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm and on Friday, May 6, 2022 beginning 9:00am.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 9:30am followed by a 10:00 am funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
