Obituary of Latchmin Itwaru
South Plainfield, NJ – Latchmin (Persaud) Itwaru, 59, passed away on April 17, 2022 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Born in Guyana, Latchmin had lived in Brooklyn, NY until her settling in South Plainfield in 1993.
In 2004, Latchmin retired from Flexpac-Corp in South Plainfield where she worked as a supervisor. She then went on to care for her precious grandchildren and devote her time to her family. She loved doing arts and crafts, wedding and party favors, especially for her family and friends. In her spare time, Latchmin enjoyed cooking, gardening and scrapbooking.
She loved to watch her favorite tv show; the Price is Right and could always be found snacking on uncooked brown rice.
Latchmin is survived by her husband Shrinarine, daughter Shaline Matapersad, and her spouse Dara and son, Navendra Itwaru and his spouse Mohanie. She will be missed greatly by her grandchildren; Sarah, Brandon and Justin Matapersad, siblings; Minta (the late John,) Patsy (Danny) Shannie (The Late Sudesh and Singh,) Kamo (Camellie,) Tony (Reshma,) and the late Ricky (survived by Anjanie and Babita,) sister and brothers-in-law; Baby, Senita, Geeta, Satish, Ravi, Jerry and Shurti.
She will also be missed by her nieces and nephews; Jimmy, the late Terry, Vijay, Kevin, Vallenie, Shivanie, Nadira, Michael, Yogita, Nicholas, Tyler, Sulita, Jonathan, Anand, Amelia, and Aliyah.
Visitation will take place at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080 on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 8:00am until 10:00am.
Services will be held 11:00am on Saturday at Rosehill Crematory in Linden prior to cremation.
