Obituary of Lucille O'Brien
Middlesex – Lucille O’Brien, 97, passed away peacefully early Saturday morning, January 22, 2022 in Laurel Circle Assisted Living, Bridgewater.
Born in Roselle Park, Lucille and her late husband, Edmund, resided in Plainfield where they began their family of four. The pair settled in Middlesex Borough in 1969 where they continued to raise their children. Lucille was a devoted communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and enjoyed spending her retirement years doing activities with the Middlesex Seniors and Traveling Seniors. Before retiring, Lucille had a long tenure as a Purchasing Agent at Bell Labs in Murray Hill.
Lucille and her late husband loved to dance and would often clear the dance floor with their smooth moves. She continued dancing into her late 80’s with senior dance groups. Lucille also loved to travel and loved going to the beach. As she aged, she would tell her children how lucky she was to have lived such a wonderful life with her family. She ultimately said, “If I died today, I’d have no regrets, I’ve had a wonderful life”. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edmund O’Brien and son, Edmund Jr. along with her 5 siblings. Surviving are her three children, Maureen Brown and husband Bill (Middlesex), Arleen Kornbluth and husband Phil (Bridgewater), Richard O’Brien and wife Linda (Middlesex) and daughter in law, Regina O’Brien (Somerset).
She will also be missed by her seven grandchildren (Megan, Marisa, David, Richie, Tommy, Kimberly and Allison) and eight great grandchildren.
Family and friends may gather in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 4-7PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 9AM at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex NJ 08846 followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex at 10AM.
Burial will be held privately.
