Obituary of Rachele Ann Starr
Toms River Township – Rachele Carrier-Starr, 78, formerly of South Plainfield, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.
Born and raised in Plainfield, Rachele was a long-time resident of South Plainfield settling in the Borough in 1974. Rachele started her cosmetology career with Tepper's in Plainfield. Rachele always had an entrepreneurial spirit and wanted to open her own salon. Some years later she opened The South Side Salon located on South Clinton Avenue in South Plainfield. After 50 plus years behind the chair, Rachele decided to retire and move to Toms River with her husband Jerry.
Rachele always took pride in how she looked, was always very fitness conscious, and certainly loved her shopping. She loved spending time with her husband Jerry taking day trips finding new restaurants. Her favorite trips were called "Grandma Days" where she spent the entire day with her 6 grandkids spoiling them.
Rachele enjoyed hosting large family parties. Her table was always filled with food laughter and love. She will always be remembered as a matriarch, just as her mother was, taking care of her two beloved sons, their wives, who quickly became her daughters, and her grandchildren, who brought out her true smile.
Predeceased by her beloved parents, Aniello and Philomena Santonastasso. Rachele leaves behind her loving husband Gerald Starr, two sons Kenneth Carrier and wife Cookie of Freehold, and Jeffrey Carrier and wife Rita of Springfield. Rachele will also be greatly missed by her five grandsons, Kenny, Nicky, Joey, Jeffery, and Justin, and her only granddaughter, her princess, Julia.
