Obituary of Frederick Dauncey

Please share a memory of Frederick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

South Plainfield, NJ – Frederick Charles Dauncey, 83, passed away on January 29, 2021 at CareOne Rehabilitation and Care Center in Bound Brook.  Born in Greenbrook Township to the late Harold and Sarah (Walters) Dauncey, Fred lived in Bound Brook, Dunellen and Plainfield before settling to South Plainfield.

January 11, 1961, Fred enlisted in the United States Army where he faithfully served his country during the Korean War.  On January 10, 1963, Fred was honorably discharged as a Private E-1.  He worked for Burger King, Ford Motor Co. and Nissan prior to retiring from Noville in South Plainfield where he was a facilities manager.

Fred enjoyed trains and model trains and showed his passion through sharing his knowledge with family and friends.  He enjoyed fixing them and when it came to a train horn, Fred was the first to tell you what kind of train it was.  He spent many Sundays with family and friends at various train shows and also ran his own show for many years in New Hope, PA.  Prior to downsizing and selling his home in South Plainfield, a good majority of his basement was a fully functioning train layout.

Fred also loved classic cars and cherished his custom 1951 Mercury. When not participating in cruise nights or a car shows he enjoyed customizing die cast model cars. Fred was very handy and was known to be able to fix anything. No matter the job, Fred had a tool to fix it.

He leaves behind his wife of forty-six years; Bonnie (Lubsen) Dauncey and their children; Fred Jr. of Auburn, ME, Christopher and his wife Kristie of Union, ME, and Sandra Cortese and her husband John, Jr. of South Plainfield.  He is also survived by step-sons Kenneth Krog of Brick and Carl and his wife Janine of Island Heights, NJ, grandchildren; Jasmine Goodman, Brendan Krog, Tyler Krog, Jason Krog, Anthony Cortese, Joseph Krog and Madalyn Cortese.

Due to the current situation, a memorial service honoring Fred will be held in the summer – allowing all those family, friends and extended relatives to gather together safely.

In lieu of flowers, donations sent in Fred’s name to www.aspca.org would be appreciated.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals in South Plainfield
