South Plainfield, NJ – Benigno A. Alcantara, 71, surrounded by his loving family at JFK Haven Hospice in Edison, was called home to be with the Lord on March 18, 2020. Born in the Philippines, Ben immigrated to the United States, living in Roselle until settling to South Plainfield in 1999. For several years, Ben was employed by Daffy’s located in Secaucus as a warehouse supervisor. A faithful communicant of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish in South Plainfield and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially at family gatherings where his special Filipino dish, dinuguan, would be enjoyed by all. Ben raised chickens and loved sports; especially basketball and pingpong and was a fan of the New York Yankees, Giants and Knicks as well as Manny Pacquiao. Predeceased by his father Ludovico, Ben, also known to many as “Uncle Ben” or “Lolo Ben” leaves behind his wife, Femia, daughter Michelle Ciszak and husband Michael, mother Marciana, brothers Romeo and Wilfredo and his sisters; Cres, Cora, Gloria, Lilia, Barbara, Myrna and Marilyn. Ben is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Glen, Joyce, Genevieve, Chuck, Jennifer, Grachelle, Melissa, Melvin, Andrea, Angela, Georgia, Kimberly, Moses and Gabrielle and his great nieces and nephews; Marylee, Remi, Milo, Erlo, Basti, Precious, Mikoy, Thirdy and Luci. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family will hold services at a later date.
