Obituary of George P. Roy
George P. Roy, 77, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on May 13, 2019 after a brief illness. Born in Elizabeth to the late Phillip and Mary (Butynes) Roy, George grew up in Roselle and settled to Middlesex in 1965.
Retiring in 2014, he was the proud owner of George’s Floor Waxing Service located in Middlesex. Having a love for animals and having two Macaw Parrots, George also took pride in owning Tropical Splendor Pet Shop in Middlesex from 1975-1995.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church and was part of the Middlesex Special Police. He loved his children and grandchildren, was always happy to lend a helping hand and was particularly fond of tropical fish and exotic birds.
Predeceased by his son William in 2007 and grandson Cpl. Christopher Roy in 2013, George is survived by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-six years; Betty (Clarke) Roy, daughter Renée M. Ditzenberger and husband Dr. J. Eric of Middlesex, son James P. Roy and wife Viña Domingo of Boise, ID, and daughter-in-law Diane C. Roy and fiancé Tibor Varga of Middlesex. George also leaves behind two grandchildren; Stephen J. Roy of Piscataway and Kelly Roy and her fiancé Mark Tantoco of Raritan as well as his siblings; Joanne Dorrian and her husband Charles of Miami, FL, Marilyn Roy, and Glenn Roy and his wife Bonnie, all of Bayville and many godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and on Friday, May 17, 2019 beginning 8:15 am.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 beginning 8:45 am in the funeral home followed by a 9:30 am Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. Mausoleum entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.
