Obituary of Rose G. Krylowski Penkunas

Rose G. Krylowski Penkunas passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 27, 2015. She was born August 30, 1918, and grew up in Newark, NJ surviving her three siblings, Vincent, Marie and Michael. She had close family ties with her cousins in Brooklyn and spent her summers with them at the beach or enjoying her favorite pastime dancing.
During World War II, Rose worked at the Picatinny Arsenal, secretary to an army officer. After the war, she continued her secretarial career at Esso in Elizabeth, NJ and later at the Exxon facilities in Linden, NJ. Her career spanned 33 years with Exxon (Esso), retiring as a supervisor in the Patents department in 1982.
In September 1950, Rose married Paul Krylowski and had three children, Paul Jr., John and Marianne. They settled the family in South Plainfield, NJ and lived there until Paul Sr.'s death in 1984. Rose relocated to a new home in South Plainfield after Paul's death and married Charles Penkunas in April 1989. In 2011 she moved to an assisted living in Bridgewater, NJ after Charles passed.
Rose was active in her retirement and volunteered with the Ladies Auxiliary Club, of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad. She was an active parishioner at both Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and later Our Lady of Czestochowa.
Rose leaves behind her sons Paul Jr. and John, her daughter-in-law Kathy, her future daughter-in-law Tess, her son-in-law Ralph and grandchildren Roseanne, Gregory married to Beatrice, Angela married to Joseph, Christopher, and Kimberly.
Family and friends are invited to join together for visitation on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral services will begin on Tuesday at 9:00 AM in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 AM in the Our Lady of Czestochowa RC Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow mass in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation in her memory may be made to a charity of ones' choice.
