Obituary of Nicolena Carlucci

Nicolena Carlucci "Lilly", nee Tornincasa, age 90, of South Plainfield, died on Monday, August 13, 2018 at home. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts to the late Anthony and Madeline Tornincasa (nee Pappadia), Lilly was raised in New York and Woodbridge. On October 20, 1951 Lilly married the late Nicholas Carlucci and the two resided in Plainfield prior to settling in South Plainfield in 1966 where they raised their family. The mother of eight children, Lilly was the definition of a devoted mother who dedicated her life to her family. As their family grew, she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and the quality time spent on holidays as a family. A loving and caring woman with a generous spirit, Lilly will be remembered for her great sense of humor, who enjoyed being social and loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Nicholas, a son Robert and sisters, Jean Giangrasso and Frances Tornincasa. Surviving are her loving children, Fran Carlucci, Susan Ritchey (Richie), John Carlucci, Nikki Behr (John), David Carlucci (Bill Collins), Dominic Carlucci (Kathy) and Michael Carlucci (Debora Bresch); her brother, Ralph Mocci; cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Jared, Rachel, Paul, Molly, Daniel, Brook, Kaitlyn, and Sophie, dear great-grandchildren, Dominic, Hudson, Carter and Pennelope and brother in-law, Angelo Carlucci as well as her nieces, nephews, and extended family. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00PM on date in the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10AM on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Our Lady of Czestochowa R.C. Church, South Plainfield. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
