Obituary of Thomas Hudson

Thomas Hudson, 83, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at JFK Medical center in Edison. Born on October 10, 1934 and raised in Leslie, Georgia, In 1955, Mr. Hudson enlisted in the US Army and served three years on active duty before receiving an honorable discharge in 1958. Following his active duty service, Tommy relocated to Brooklyn, NY in 1959 where he married Florrie Joyce Hudson and settled to South Plainfield in 1978 while continuing to serve in the Reserves for several years before retiring in 1995. In addition to the Reserves, Tommy worked for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) in New York City as a Bus Operator for 25 years retiring in 1990. Upon retiring from MTA, Tommy spent another 15 years with the United States Postal Service before finally retiring in 2005. He was a member of the TWU Local 100 in New York and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Predeceased by his wife Florrie who passed away on July 13, 1984, Tommy is survived by his children; Bedar Hudson of South Plainfield and Spencer Hudson of Washington, DC, two grandchildren; Nicole Dill of Philadelphia, PA and Krysteena Joyce Hudson of Clayton, NC and two great grandchildren; Setenay Afia and Bilal Hashir Moufti Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, July 20, 2018 beginning at 5pm in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals 2425 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield. Funeral Services and the rendering of Military Honors will follow at 7:30pm in the funeral home. Mr. Hudson will be cremated privately and his remains will be laid to rest in the family plot at Hillside Cemetery on July 28, 2018 beginning at 10:45am. A small gathering for family and friends will follow his internment at the Hudson family home in South Plainfield at 1pm.
