Obituary of Betty L. Hydeman

Betty L. Hydeman, nee Golding, 90, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2018 at Holly Center at Arbor Glen in Bridgewater. Born and raised in Peekskill, New York to the late Gilbert and Emma Golding, she developed an early interest in theater and writing. After high school, Betty went on to work as a fashion writer for Glamour Magazine in New York City for several years. After World War II, Betty married the late Richard R. Hydeman and lived in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Westfield, New Jersey where they raised their family. Betty worked as an interior designer for Doretts in Westfield for many years. Betty and her beloved husband Richard moved to Naples, Florida in their retirement, and were active within the Naples Players Society as the President and Vice President. Together, they were fund raising coordinators and enjoyed almost 30 years together in Florida. The Hydemans traveled the world together, visiting every continent (except Antarctica) sometimes more than once. Betty was known for her love and keen sense of fashion, theater and the arts. She enjoyed the quality time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard and her dear sister Ruth. Surviving are her loving children, Richard G. Hydeman and wife Carol, Kathryn E. Barks, Susan R. Kollarik, and Jeffrey E. Hydeman and wife Rose; her eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and extended family. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 from 3:00 to 5:00PM at the McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield. Funeral services will be held at 5:00PM at the funeral home.
