Robert Edward Platt, 76 of Piscataway, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2017 surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Waterbury, CT to the late David and Adele Platt, he moved to New Jersey in his youth and was a former resident of Scotch Plains before settling in Piscataway in 1969. Mr. Platt proudly served his country in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War from 1960-65. Robert was a bus driver for 37 years, starting his career with Somerset County Department of Transportation and retiring from New Jersey Transit. He enjoyed building model railroads and had a passion for fishing. Surviving are his beloved wife of 52 years, Louise Platt nee Pelletier, his loving children, Debra Requena and husband Alfonzo, Charles Platt and wife June, and Robert Platt, his cherished grandchildren, Corey, Brandon, Morgan, Kathryn, Dante, Avery, and Ella, his great-grandson Christopher, his dear siblings, Barbara McLouth and husband Bill, Ronald Platt, Sandra Tassello, and Richard Platt and wife Betsy, along with many extended family and cherished friends. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of the visitation with military honors at 12:00PM. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Platt's memory to The American Cancer Society Central NJ Region - North Brunswick Office, 2600 US Hwy 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902
