Steve and I very were good friends in later years at Dunellen High School and for years beyond.
We were the same age.
We performed a singing/guitar duet (Sugar Time) for our High School graduation play.
We defiantly both wore black shirts and white ties for our yearbook graduation pictures.
We were sent home to change to white shirts.
We never changed clothes nor returned for picture taking.
When I came back from Univ. of Miami, I spotted him in his Piscataway squad car and pulled him over to "arrest" him (Haha!).
We talked for quite a while that day.
Unfortunately, we lost touch and never saw or heard from each other since then.
Rest in peace, Steve.

Mr. Balog was a wonderful man, full of life, always smiling and kind and caring towards others. I'll never forget the many hours he would spend with his pigeons that always seemed to find my mother's clean sheets hanging on the clothes line!
I remember how he would chew on his cigar while listening to what others were saying. He was a good listener.
I will never forget what a special neighbor and friend he was to my mom and dad and all five of us "kids" growing up.
I will always remember how Mr. Balog was such a dear, sweet, and loving man to my sister Kathleen, Matty, Ryan, Brendan, and Shannon. He will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Balog, Francine, and Steven, may the wonderful memories you had together bring you comfort and peace at this difficult time. I am so sorry for your loss.
God Bless you Mr. Balog.
Love,
"Scravis II" or "Sister Mary Margaret"

I've been friends with Steven Jr., Francine, Mr. & Mrs. Balog for 40+ years having grown up with Steven Jr. and the Balog clan. There has never been a nicer, kinder or fun loving guy than pops. I spent the majority of my life growing up in the Balog garage we named "The Merc Shop"! Pops always was in a good mood, always laughing and smoking his cigar. I would hang out 6-7 nights a week with Steven Jr. watching him and his pops build the Mercs! He loved life and his family and was always kind, generous and inviting. I would go to car shows, pigeon races and family events with the Balog family. Pops taught me a lot about life and how to behave in a kind way in my "running wild" days. I loved pops like my own dad and am heartbroken to hear of his passing. He was one of the great ones!! I love you pops, you will always be remembered!! May you Rest In Peace!!

Balog family,
So sorry to hear of your loss. Remembering his wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in peace! We can remember all the pigeon and car stories, the big chocolate bars at Halloween and all the times we shared when Kathleen and Mattie lived next door - all those special activities during the holidays.
May the care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. Our most sincere condolences.
