John "Jack" F. McManus, 88, of Lakewood, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2017. Born and raised in Jersey City to the late James and Margaret McManus, Jack was a longtime Jersey City resident before moving to Piscataway where he resided for over 20 years. Jack and his beloved wife, the late Patricia, settled in Lakewood in 1999 Jack served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Airman before being honorably discharged in 1947. He discovered a love for flying, and continued to do so throughout his life; flying Ultralight Aircrafts well into his 70's. Mr. McManus was a graduate of St. Peter's University in Jersey City. He went on to work as a management supervisor for Western Electric in Manhattan for over 35 years. Jack was a devout catholic who attended Daily Mass at St. Luke's Church in Toms River. He enjoyed, reading, flying model aircrafts, boating, and time spent with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia McManus in 2004. Surviving are his brothers, Ira McManus and wife Mary Lou, and James McManus, his sister in law Kathleen Bickunas, his 23 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 on Monday, October 2, 2017 at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30AM on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church with family and friends gathering at the funeral home at 9:15AM Interment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
