Jackson, NJ Donald L. Rickert, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at his residence in Sunrise Assisted Living in Jackson. Born in Valley View, PA to his late parents Ervin and Julia (Havelock) Rickert, Donald lived in Shamokin, PA and was a resident of Middlesex from 1957 until settling in Jackson in 2008.A proud Veteran, Donald was honorably discharged from the United States Army after faithfully serving his country following WWII. After many years at General Motors in Linden, Donald retired in 1990 as an Inspector on the Assembly Line.He was a former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish and was a lifelong member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2290 in Manville.Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Thomas and by his six siblings.Donald is survived by his loving family; his wife of 63 years, Marie (Gosk) Rickert, son Carl Rickert and his wife Bonnie of Toms River and his daughter Pamela Cooke and her husband Alan of Oviedo, FL. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law Fran Muldoon-Rickert of Bridgewater and his five adored grandchildren; Kevin, Christopher, Ana, Brian and Sarah.Visitation will take place in Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ 08846 on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 8:15 am until 8:45 am.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014 beginning at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Parish in Middlesex. Committal prayers will be held in the chapel of Resurrection Burial Park in Piscataway.In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations sent to the VFW Post #2290, Washington Avenue, Manville, NJ 08835 would be appreciated.
