Faustino "Chief" Fernandez, 89, of Piscataway passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Memory Care Living in Greenbrook. Born on November 12, 1924 in Shinnston, WVA to Anastasio and Maria (Alverez) Fernandez, he grew up in Clarksburg, WVA and has resided in Piscataway since 1961.Mr. Fernandez proudly served his country in the US Navy for more than 20 years and worked for the US Postal Service in Highland Park and New Brunswick. He was a parishioner and usher for the St. Frances Cabrini R.C. Church in Piscataway and was a volunteer for the River Road Rescue Squad for more than 30 years.Mr. Fernandez was predeceased by his daughter, Maureen Fernandez-Clancy in 1987 and is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Veronica Fernandez of Piscataway, his two loving daughters, Elizabeth Crystal and her husband Norman of Greenbrook and Patricia Egan and her husband Daniel of Verona, his beloved son-in-law, Thomas Clancy of Georgia. He is also survived by his three cherished grandsons, Jake, Matthew and Dustin.
