Obituary of Gladstone Courtney Beavers

Gladstone Courtney Beavers was born in Kingston, Jamaica to Gladstone and Francella Beavers on February 2, 1948. From the very beginning he loved to work with his hands. Courtney helped to tend the family garden in Jamaica and continued the practice in his own home in Connecticut. He enjoyed planting his garden of flowers and tending to his apple and pear trees. Courtney attended St. Andrew Technical School where he gained a certification in HVAC Maintenance. He was gifted in that he could repair any electronic, be it an iron, a fridge, or a stove. After a long and successful career with the KFC Company as an HVAC Operations Manager, he became immobile, he maintained a positive attitude and still worked in his vocation by training others. He would say, "I know why the caged bird sings!" - Paul Laurence Dunbar He enjoyed spending his free time at family gatherings where he not only cooked but was also able to reminisce on the past and look forward to the future. Courtney grew up always loving the Lord. His faith, courage, and devotion to family and friends will always be remembered. He and his family attended Truth Baptist Church in East Hartford, CT. He passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning of Sunday, October 4, 2015 "I have fulfilled my duty in God "Acts 23:1 He is survived by his daughters Jacqueline, Allison and Erica and son, Courtney Jr.; sisters, Barbara Naylor, Carole Beavers-Hoard, Marie Beavers-Mandara, Mercedes Walker and brother, Robert Beavers. There are also several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. "I have fought the Good Fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the Faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
