Obituary of Adelaida Gumercinda Garrido

Adelaida Gumercinda Garrido, 78, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2018 at home surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Peralillo, Chile to the late Luis and Gumercinda Acosta Morales, she went on to settle to Piscataway, NJ with her family in 1979. Mrs. Garrido was a Registered Nurse at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center in New Brunswick where she dedicated 24 years to the Oncology Unit and was a member of the Nurses Association. Adelaida enjoyed traveling, especially to Chile. She was an incredible cook and was known for her empanadas, sopaipillas, and traditional Chilean dishes that brought a taste of home to her family. She was an avid gardener who loved the beauty of flowers and the wild birds that visited her garden. Adelaida was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who above all cherished the quality time spent with her family. Her loving spirit and caring nature will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her dear siblings, Sergio, Fernando, Jose, Francisco, and Elena and by her cherished daughter Paola. Suriviving are her beloved husband and best friend Manuel Garrido, her loving children, Marcia O'Connor and husband Michael, Monica Elasmar, Manuel Garrido and wife Ramona, and Alejandra Brosnan and husband Jonathan, her cherished grandchildren, Sayed, Paola, Kareen, Victoria, Manuel, Marcelo, Yasmine, and Averie, her extended family, friends and her three companions, her dogs Lucky, Lady, and Lily. Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2018 from 1:00 to 5:00PM at the Piscatway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway with funeral services beginning at 4:30PM.
