Obituary of Marie C. Fenchock
Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Fenchock died peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 7th, 2015. She was 98 years old. Born in Plainfield to the late Frank & Loretta Haskard, Marie was a Dunellen resident since the 1940s. She was the mother of six children.
Marie was always involved with her children, and in their school years was their scout leader and homeroom mother. As a family they enjoyed camping. A true homemaker, Marie loved to keep herself busy with household chores, baking cakes and planting her geraniums - always with music playing in the background. She was also an artist, using her talents to draw storybooks for her children and grandchildren and writing poetry. Marie could find humor and rhyme in every situation. She loved everything Hawaiian and would host a Hawaiian luau every summer. After becoming a grandmother she spent time trying to teach her grandchildren to do the hula. As a young person she was a gifted swimmer and horseback rider.
Marie was raised by her paternal grandparents, the late John & Mary Haskard of Plainfield. Along with her brother, Frank, they spent much time as a family in West Palm Beach, Florida in her younger years. Marie met and married Joseph Fenchock, to whom she remained a loving and devoted wife for over 60 years until his death in 2011. Marie will be greatly missed by their adoring daughters, Julianne, Dianne and Laverne (Bill), her grandchildren Meredith, Justin (Tina), Rayna, Daniel (Keira), Larina and Gabrielle (Pierre) and great-grandchildren Arianna, Kyleigh and Ethan. Her family was the "apple of her eye" and they will all miss her wit, her love and her smile.
Visitation will be Monday, November 9th from 7-9pm at Middlesex Funeral Home 528 Bound Brook Avenue Middlesex, NJ 08846. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 10th at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains.
