Obituary of WILLIAM JOHN DOBROWSKI

William John Dobrowski, age 61, of Piscataway, NJ, died on Monday, November 25, 2013. Alternately called "Bill" or "Johnnie" by friends and family, he was born in Jersey City and grew up there and in Teaneck, NJ. He attended Hudson Catholic High School, and was later awarded a scholarship to Rutgers University, where his academic interests included the sciences, history and politics. At a later point, he attended the Rutgers Graduate School of Management and Labor Studies, where he completed a year of graduate study. Industrious and responsible, Bill began working for the US Postal Service in his late teens and continued there throughout and beyond his college years. Taking the leap from the federal government to the private sector, he joined the team of Pomerantz Personnel in 1982. Initially a staffing recruiter, he continued on to become a Corporate Sales Manager and Trainer. He enjoyed many years of personal and professional growth at Pomerantz where his sense of humor and enthusiasm where appreciated by his colleagues. After 25 years with Pomerantz, Bill began his own business, TalentWorx, where he used his years of experience to continue in the staffing industry. Bill met his wife Elaine during the period they both worked for the postal service in 1979. They married in 1981, adopted their son, Zach, in 1988, and their daughter, Christianna, in 1993. Bill and Elaine shared a love of nature and began backpacking together in the Adirondacks soon after they met, and continued the tradition of Adirondack camping and hiking with their children and friends throughout their lives. They expanded their family travels, particularly to national parks around the country. Bill was also devoted to his family, who are numerous. In addition to his wife and children, he cared deeply for his 3 older sisters, Joyce, Margie and Fran, his mother, Marjorie, and his 3 brothers in law. He enjoyed his 9 nieces and nephews, and was committed to Helen and Ted, his mother and father in law, now deceased. An extended network of friends and family were an on-going part of his life. He was a skilled home repair technician, an active father, and a financial expert. He enjoyed gardening, running, chess and music. Bill will especially be remembered for his understated character, his intellectual curiosity and respectful demeanor, his gentle spirit and sense of humor, and his kindness. He is most proud of his children, Zach and Christianna, and would say that it has been a blessing to make a difference in the course of their lives.
