Toms River - Eleanor Luma, 80, died Wednesday August 3, 2016 at the Center of Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains.
Born and raised in Newark, Eleanor retired to Toms River after 50 years of dedicated service to Bell Telephones where she started her career as a switch phone operator.
An animal lover Eleanor cared for dogs, two cats and koi pond in her back yard. She also enjoyed reading, crosswords and NY Mets baseball.
Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Eleanor (Janik); siblings Jennie Tury and Harry Luma; niece, Rita Bryson and great niece, Tiffany Bryson, surviving are her niece, Theresa Pipolo and husband Frank and two nephews, Walter Luma and wife Kathleen and Joseph Tury and wife Wanda.
She will also be missed by her great nieces and nephews, Katie, Susan, Victoria, Tracy, Jacqueline, Christopher, Anthony, Margie, Mike, Ryan, Maggie and Erica.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11AM in the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080, interment will follow in St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9AM to the service time.
