Edison - Edward A. Carchia, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 11, 2016 at his home.
Born in Newark, NJ, Ed grew up and resided there prior to settling in Edison many years ago.
He graduated from the Newark Public Schools and earned a Bachelor's degree from NYU.
After graduation, Ed was the founder of Pearson /Carchia Advertising in Edison where he worked for over 30 years prior to retiring 15 years ago. In addition to being a successful business man, Ed was a true Renaissance man. His collection of short stories entitled 'Sicily Dreaming' was nominated for the 2005 Pushcart Prize in literature and was recently published by Amazon Press.
He also enjoyed the outdoors with a passion for adventure and travel. He has seen the world and had the ability to speak several languages.
Ed is survived by his loving family including wife of 65 years, Ethel, three daughters, Anita Diegnan and her husband, Senator Patrick Diegnan, Annette Dailey & Clea Carchia, a sister, Evelyn Garafallo and predeceased by his brother, Anthony.
Also surviving are three beloved granddaughters; Heather, Tara and Sherri and three great granddaughters, Vanessa, Alexa and Brooke.
Private burial services were held under the direction of the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Memorial donations in his memory have been requested to the Edison food pantry which helps those most in need during this holiday season. Donations should be made "In Memory of Edward Carchia" and mailed to: Hands of Hope, Inc.,P.O. Box 1057,Edison, NJ. 08818
