Obituary of John E. Gorman

South Plainfield- John E. Gorman, 52, peacefully passed away Friday December 23, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at home. He was born and raised in Bayonne, NJ, John settled to South Plainfield NJ in 1991 where he raised his three children. John began his career at Pershing in 1982 and became a Manager of Government Securities Clearing and Settlements in 1985. He eventually moved on to be a Director of Credit Securities at Citi Group Capital Markets. Currently, John was working as a Managing Director of Global Head Margin Operations in New York. A survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, John was on the 81st floor of the North Tower when the planes hit; his brother Thomas Gorman, a Port Authority Police Officer was one of the first responders but tragically lost his life. John most enjoyed the time spent with his family taking trips to Melbourne Beach, Florida. He was an avid golfer and also enjoyed watching the Raiders and Giants football games. Predeceased by his brother, Thomas Gorman; surviving are his wife, Janeth (Franco) Gorman; three children,Jeanette, Katherine and husband Pawan Chandhok, and Kevin; parents, Edward and Theresa Gorman; sister Theresa Creedonand husband Mark. He will also be missed by his granddaughters, Gianna, Daniela and Layla; nieces and nephews, Laura Pellegrino, Patrick and Bridget Gorman, Rachel and Jessica Creedon; and an array of extended relatives and friends. Family and friends may attend visitation on Monday December 26, 2016 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the McCriskin - Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue South Plainfield NJ 07080. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 27, 2016 beginning at 11 am in the funeral home. A private cremation will follow.
