Obituary of Rosemary Gottlieb
Rosemary (nee Tracy) Gottlieb, 74, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at St. Peter’s University Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Mary and Robert Tracy, Rosemary grew up in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. Following her high school graduation, Rosemary attended Kings County Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse. During nursing school, she met Tom Gottlieb, and the two were later married in August 1973. They lived in Brooklyn, Maine and Staten Island before moving to New Jersey in 1984, first in Middlesex, then Piscataway, and finally Somerset, where they have lived since 2006.
Over the years, Rosemary worked in various hospitals, most notably Victory Memorial in Brooklyn and St. Peter’s in New Brunswick. She worked across multiple departments, including the Emergency Room, Perinatal Department, and Labor and Delivery Department. When her children started school, Rosemary transitioned within nursing, becoming the School Nurse at Our Lady of Mount Virgin School in Middlesex. In 2000, when her children graduated high school, she retired.
Outside of work, Rosemary was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, where she was also a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She had a deep passion for photography, often taking most of the family pictures; a talent for cake decorating, which she applied to endless parties and celebrations; and of course, a love of scrapbooking. She enjoyed scrapbooking so much that she started her own company, Gateway to Your Memories, allowing her to share her passion and creativity with others. Her family and friends will also be left with the memories of the many family parties and holidays Rosemary planned, organized and cooked for.
Predeceased by her parents and her brothers Patrick and William Tracy, Rosemary is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Thomas Gottlieb; her children Christine Gottlieb-Eichert, and her husband Matthew Eichert, and Tom Gottlieb and his wife, Amy Petriello; and her grandson Miles. She will also be missed by her sisters Elizabeth (Thomas) O’Brien, Ann Tracy and Bernadette (Robert) Green; brothers Joseph, Robert and Charles (Ramona) Tracy; as well as a host of extended relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at the Middlesex Funeral Home, 528 Bound Brook Road, Middlesex, NJ, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 5 PM to 9 PM.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, 600 Harris Avenue, Middlesex, NJ, on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 10 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home prior to mass, beginning at 9 AM.
Following mass, entombment will take place at St. Bernard Cemetery, Route 28 at Vanderveer Road Bridgewater, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the Gottlieb family has requested that donations be made to The Sjögren’s Foundation, in Rosemary’s name.
