Obituary of Anthony Vietri
Anthony “Red” Vietri, 86, passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at JFK Medical Center in Edison.
Born in Newark to the late Joseph and Rose (Ascolese) Vietri, Red was a longtime resident of Middlesex, which he made his home for the majority of his life.
Red was most recently employed by the Borough of Middlesex in Code Enforcement. Earlier in his career, he served as a Construction Inspector for the State of New Jersey, and when he first entered the workforce, he built his own business as a skilled mason.
To say he was devoted to his family would be an understatement. Red with his sister provided their legacy condo in Seaside Heights for his family to enjoy and continue family traditions, and he had a nickname for just about everyone.
It's gravy, not sauce! He was a man who was proud of his Italian heritage and truly cherished time spent with his loved ones, especially during his weekly Tuesday night pasta dinners.
He was well known throughout the Middlesex community with his daily morning visits to the diner as he looked forward to spending time with his close friends.
As a “Jack of all Trades”, there wasn’t a task or project Red couldn’t fix or supervise, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Additionally, Red faithfully served in the National Guard and was also a passionate sports fan, proudly supporting the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Bridget AKA Aunt B, and Lucy Guadagnino. Surviving him is his daughter, Michele Tackach and her husband John; his son, Joseph Vietri and his wife Cheryl; and his beloved grandchildren, Michael Vietri, Kaitlin Tackach and her fiancé Frank, Kristie Tackach and her fiancé Timothy, and Kara Tackach and her significant other Bailey.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin R.C. Church, Middlesex, NJ.
Entombment will follow at Resurrection Burial Park, Piscataway.
