Obituary of William W. Lemire
Piscataway, NJ -William Wilbur Lemire 80, died peacefully with family by his side on May 18, 2023. Bill was born in Newark to his late parents Marion and Joseph Lemire. He was born and raised in Newark NJ for many years before moving to Piscataway in 1971.
William served on Active Duty in the United States NAVY onboard the USS Farragut (DLG-6) from 1964 thru 1970 where he served during Vietnam Conflict and received his Honorable Discharge. He worked at Westinghouse Electric Corp, Siemens USA and ultimately opening his own business with his partner Jack Holidak called RISE America specializing in Electrical Engineering Drafting. William continuted to work until fully retiring in 2008.
In his spare time he was an avid bowler averaging in the 240’s with his wife Maryellen. He bowled a perfect “300” game at Manville Lanes in 1986. William also enjoyed playing “pool” billiards with his friends a few times a week in a local league where he won several trophies for his skill. He will be sadly missed by his teammates and friends who called him “killer”
Past Commander of Dunellen American Llegion Post-119 from 2011-2013, William was able to obtain several ranking positions while being an active member of the Legion up to the date of his death.
He is predeceased by his parents, Marion and Joseph Lemire who passed away many years ago, brother Joseph Lemire (2014,) Sister-in-law Bertha Lemire (2004,) and sister Joany unknown. Surviving William is his wife Maryellen, only child: William J.Lemire (Billy) and girlfriend Kim Hamm, three grandchildren Ashley Lemire and husband Mark Trupkiewicz, Brittany Lemire and boyfriend Bryan Howard, Nichole Lemire and Boyfriend Jordan Matthews and one great grandchild Leilani Jade Matthews. Known by family as “Grampy” and friends as “Lumpy,” he will be missed by all those he knew.
Visitation will be 4pm-9pm Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Rd., Piscataway and on Thursday, May 25, 2023 beginning 10:00am with the funeral services starting at 11:00am. Repass to follow at the Piscataway American Legion Post-261.
