Obituary of Eugene T. McMahon
The family of Eugene Thomas McMahon is saddened to announce his passing on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at the age of 91 years.
Gene will be lovingly remembered by the love of his life, Maureen (nee Brannagan), his wife of 65 years; his children KellyAnn (David) Bozzi, Michael (Adrienne); grandchildren Sean (Daniella) Bozzi and Corinne Bozzi and her fiancée, Andrew Lyons.
Gene was predeceased by his son Eugene E., his parents Eugene and Louise (Marx) and his sister Dolores Lade.
Gene was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. After high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an aircraft mechanic. He was made a sergeant in just 9 months. Some friends said that he was the quietest marine they had ever met. He was a graduate of Essex County College and The University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1991 after 40 years of service. Gene was a lifelong member of Father Canty Council 3197, Knights of Columbus in Hillside, New Jersey; the American Legion in Doylestown, PA; the Buckingham Springs Computer Club and Veterans Association. He was an avid reader and an expert at couponing. He enjoyed cruises, going to the casino, and watching the New York Mets.
The family would like to especially thank Kathleen Simons (friend and caretaker) and the Doylestown Hospital Hospice for their care of Gene.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in New Hope, PA on Tuesday May 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are asked to gather at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. to pay their respects. Interment will be private at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in South Plainfield, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eugene’s name may be made to St. Francis Friends of the Poor 155 W. 22nd Street NY, NY 10011 or the Doylestown Health Hospice.
