Obituary of Joseph William Caffiero, Jr.
Joseph W. Caffiero Jr., 35, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at home in South Plainfield.
Born in Plainfield, Joseph spent time growing up in Virginia Beach, VA as well as Venice, Fl., prior to moving to New Jersey.
Joe enlisted in the United States Army in 2008 and served our nation as an Infantryman during the Global War on Terror overseas in Iraq prior to being discharged in 2010. During his tour in Iraq and as a result to defending our country and others, Joe was awarded numerous Medals, Citations and Campaign Ribbons including, the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star and the Army Service Ribbon as well as the Overseas Service Ribbon.
Following his discharge, Joe finally settled to South Plainfield.
Amongst his family and friends Joe was known for his big heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need regardless of the circumstance, putting others before himself.
In addition, Joe loved spending time outdoors; camping, fishing and riding ATV’s.
He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Janis and David Ward and paternal grandmother, Helen Caffiero.
Surviving are his mother, Catherine Caffiero of Plainsboro; sister, Ashley Caffiero of NY; father, Joseph W. Caffiero Sr. of Edison and paternal grandfather, Ronald Caffiero Sr. also of Edison. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends for visitation on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 4-8pm in the South Plainfield Funeral Home 2456 Plainfield Ave. South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9:15am in the funeral home prior to the 10am funeral mass at Sacred Heart RC, South Plainfield, NJ 07080.
Immediately following mass, Joseph will be laid to rest at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield, NJ.
