Danny, I’ve got so much to say so here it goes:
The Early Years:
It must’ve been 1989 or 1990 when we met. You and your Dad’s bowling team name was “49ers Fan Club”. My mom told me I should go introduce myself as a fellow fan. We hit it off immediately. Over the next few years, we started a friendship for the ages. I got to know your mom Dawn, your dad Dave, your grandma Dorothy (I think?), and your dog Dandy. Your dad became our link, driving us everywhere. He was a real saint! For 6 or 7 years, he took us to the lanes, or the mall, or the movies.
The Teenage Years:
When I got my license, it took our bond to the next level. After years of your Das providing rides, it was my turn to return the favor. We competed against each other in high school bowling (but really we were each others biggest fans). We took tons of road trips with our other besties Kola and Bart. Days at the Jersey Shore, hanging at the mall, dinner at the grease trucks, going to the PAL, or even our big road trip to Canton Ohio. These were the best days of our lives. Going out to eat was our favorite thing to do. Somehow you always got banned from some restaurants (and the internet). I can’t remember why anymore, but it was comical. We were there for each other when both our fathers tragically and suddenly died. Times were tough but we had each other.
The Adult Years:
I got married and had two wonderful daughters. You loved these girls so much, becoming their Uncle Dan since we were brothers. Since I moved, we didn’t get to see each other as much, but you became one of the main reasons for me to come home. When you broke your leg and your health first started degrading, I came up to visit almost weekly until you were finally able to go home. Unfortunately a couple years later, we had a falling out (which feels very inconsequential now). We haven’t seen each other for maybe 7 years. I’m thankful we started talking to each other the last two years.
In Death:
All these things, I wish I got to say to you personally. After all, nobody loved reminiscing about the good times more than you. One of our favorite movies “This is the End” shows us the afterlife. Maybe you’ll be dancing with the Backstreet Boys—or at least walking in heaven with your Dad rooting the 49ers on- willing them to win. Until we see each other again, goodbye Dan.

Q: How did you meet Daniel?
A: I met Danny growing up in South Plainfield and it never failed that he would always have the best attitude no matter what was going on. His personality was infectious and he could put you in a good mood even on your worst day. I loved seeing him all the time down at the P.A.L. playing basketball all summer long. The world is definitely a little bit sadder today for losing such a bright person. Rest in peace Danny, I am better for having known you.

Danny you will be missed by so many. You loved your sport teams, especially the 49ers and the Maverics. You and I shared a joy for the Atlanta Braves. I know you will be watching all the sports from High School to pros in Heaven. Rest in Peace! - Bobby Richkus
