Obituary of Barbara Korovich
South Plainfield, NJ – Barbara Korovich, 81, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Brooklyn to the late Kenneth and Mary (Hartford) O’Day, she lived in Matawan until 1996 and then settled to Mahopac, NY until 2017. Prior to settling in South Plainfield with her daughter Barbara in 2019, she lived in Ft. Myers, FL with her daughter Rosemary.
Throughout her life, Barbara worked as a bank teller and bookkeeper. To stay busy during her retirement, she worked in an ophthalmologist office as a receptionist. Barbara loved birds and learning about them. She could often be found feeding the birds and always looked forward to visits from Cardinals. Barbara enjoyed trips to the casino, watching her favorite television shows and most of all, spending time with her family.
In 1961, Barbara married her childhood sweetheart, Nicholas. A beautiful woman, who was kind, compassionate and always made you comfortable in her presence, will be missed by all those that knew her.
Predeceased by her husband Nicholas, son Robert, and sister Mary Leonard, Barbara leaves behind her loving and devoted family, daughters; Barbara Gubernat and her husband David of South Plainfield and Rosemary Cavaciuti and her husband Andrew of Ft. Myers, FL, daughter-in-law Michelle Korovich of Tampa, FL and her siblings; Rosemary Mulcahey of Mahopac, NY, Janie Warburton and her husband Robert of Fairfield, NJ and sister-in-law Madeline Korovich.
Barbara will be missed dearly by her grandchildren; Christina & Brian, Amanda, Shawn & Jasmine, Maegan, Kaelyn, Joseph, Nicholas, Shannan and Mackenzie, great-grandchildren; Lucas, Giavanna and Tyler as well as many nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals privately handled Barbara’s services.
