Dorothy C. Rankin Ortley Beach - Dorothy Carlson-Rankin, 84, died on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Community Medical Center in Toms River. Born and raised in Plainfield, Dotty lived in Bridgewater and Boynton Beach, Florida and for the past 3 years lived in Ortley Beach. She worked for Mack Trucks in Plainfield and Bridgewater for 28 years before retiring in 1983. Dotty enjoyed taking walks on the boardwalk, dancing, traveling and going to the beach. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph Rankin Jr. who died in 1997. Surviving are her 3 sons; Robert Carlson and his wife Barbara of Bridgewater, Peter of Ortley Beach and Scott of Bridgewater, 2 step children; Marie Piesche and her husband Richard of South Plainfield and Robert Rankin and his wife Nancy of Maplewood, her sister Grace Brown of Florida, 3 grandchildren; Robert Jr., Shane, and Justin. Also surviving are 6 step grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren. Funeral Services are private and under the direction the McCriskin - Gustafson Home For Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Ave., South Plainfield. Interment will be held in Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.
