Obituary for Donald Wayne Haviland

Donald Wayne Haviland
Donald Wayne Haviland, 61, passed away on September 3, 2017 at Haven Hospice located within JFK Medical Center in Edison.

Born in Neptune, NJ and raised in Englishtown, NJ, Wayne moved to Sanford, North Carolina, at the age of 15 into the loving home of his Aunt Gladys and Uncle John Thompson who raised him.

He graduated from Greenwood High School in Lemon Springs, North Carolina in 1974 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy.

Wayne was honorably discharged with the rank of SH3 in 1980 and settled back to New Jersey. He worked for Laid Law Transit for many years before most recently working for Home Depot in their lumber department. He was a former member of the Millstone Elks, and enjoyed spending time at the Polish Club with his friends.

Wayne was an avid fisherman who loved animals, especially his loyal companion Hot-Rod.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Nathan Haviland.

Surviving are his mother, Nora Haviland, siblings, Donna Tracy and husband Ed, a step sister Jacquline Kuznick, his dear extended family, and his dear extended family, John and Shirley Thompson, John, Jerry, Candice, Heather, Deneen, Julie, Matt, Billy, Jackie, Angelique, CJ, Junior, Lucas, and Gavin.

Visitation will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Home for Funerals, 2425 Plainfield Avenue, South Plainfield on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00PM. Military Honors will conclude the visitation with Honors presented at 8:00PM.

Mr. Havilands cremated remains will be scattered at sea by the United States Navy.
