Obituary for George Carr

George Albert Carr, 81, of Piscataway, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2017.

Born and raised in Newark to the late Richard and Hannah Haddow, he was a former resident of Iselin before settling to Piscataway for the past 45 years.

George was a graduate of Newark East Side High School, and went on to work for Western Electric in Newark for over 30 years. Starting at 17, he gained an incredible understanding of the business, and advanced through the company to become the Supervising Draftsman Purchaser before his retirement.
Mr. Carr proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Burlington Lodge #32 of the Free and Accepted Masons. George had a passion for skiing, boating and the sea. He was a member of the Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor for over 40 years, where he kept his boats and enjoyed the company of those on the Marina.
He was preceded in death by his dear sister Frieda Athenson

Surviving are his dear friend, Roger Kroeck and wife Victoria, his brother Thomas Carr and wife Elizabeth, his nephews, John Carr and wife Leslie and Tom Carr and wife Trish, and niece Kathy Fiore and her husband Don, as well as his extended family and marina friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the Piscataway Funeral Home, 18 Stelton Road, Piscataway. A prayer service will be held at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607
